Hello, I'm having some trouble with the 3delight DSO and McdRunProgram: If I try to do a preview (Miarmy -> RENDER -> Render Preview) and use the DSO Mode, nothing happens. i-display will pop up but nothing gets rendered and nothing gets reported in terminal window.
If I use McdRunProgram, I get the following:
3DL ERROR A2066: RiProcRunProgram: program '/opt/Basefount/Miarmy/bin/3delight_run_program/McdRunProgram' seems to have crashed or terminated early. It should handle multiple requests; one per line. 3DL ERROR A2057: RiProcRunProgram: error reading output of program '/opt/Basefount/Miarmy/bin/3delight_run_program/McdRunProgram'. Missing request response delimiter (0xFF).
Now, If I export RIB archives and use McdRunProgram, it gets rendered without errors. But If I use DSO mode and re export RIB archives, it crashes with:
/usr/autodesk/maya2014-x64/bin/maya.bin: symbol lookup error: /opt/Basefount/Miarmy/bin/3delight_dso/McdRManDSO.so: undefined symbol: RiPointsGeneralPolygons
Any idea what could be causing this? For now I'll stick to McdRunProgram, but the render preview comes handy to see a few agents before exporting..
I'm using 3Delight Pro 11.0.49, Maya 2014 Extension 1 SP2, Linux.
thanks!

Hello Edgar, Thank you for your feedback, We'll check this out soon today But in future the render preview feature might be deleted (in 3 months) because: 1. it's 3delight-version-dependency and there are complains about this. 2. now Miarmy support real time display preview. We'll re-write the whole renderman session this month, and make it better to use And the mainly tool will be renderman dso/runprogram based archive. Best regards! --Yeah Hello, I'm having some trouble with the 3delight DSO and McdRunProgram: If I try to do a preview (Miarmy -> RENDER -> Render Preview) and use the DSO Mode, nothing happens. i-display will pop up but nothing gets rendered and nothing gets reported in terminal window. Ah, ok. Then forget about it too. I've started learning the new stuff in Miarmy like real time display! I was also about to report the Miarmy Setup Rig bug with IK until I saw the new workflow using HumanIK. I'm catching up with 3.0.3

Just a quick heads up: If you want to use DSO, set the "Render Mode" to "Export RIB File and Render". It will create a rib file, a log file with statistics and will render dso instead of runprogram without crashing maya.

But if you want to render interactively (within Maya), just use the LD_PRELOAD variable as a workaround:
setenv LD_PRELOAD $DELIGHT/lib/lib3delight.so
Just add this to your maya script file (in /usr/autodesk/maya2015-x64/bin/maya).
