Hello Yeah and the Miarmy team, community,
First thank you for all your hard work, we've been using Miarmy for a little over a year on a few smaller projects and still very much learning the ins and outs of miarmy. The latest version makes our work flow so much faster and easier to use now that viewport 2.0 is working.
We are working on a larger project now and I am wonder if anyone has a solution for creating renderLayers using the Vray DSO render method. We would like to separate FG,MG and BG as well as any layers (OCC, BTY etc). But working with the agentCaches does not work cleanly.
We tried using the driveshell, with groups added to specific render layers (Maya legacy render layers) But the render layer rendered all agents.
We are using maya 2018.3, miarmy 6.5.21, vray 3.60.04
We can create renderLayers and shader overrides using the MeshDrive render method but some of our shots areover 5K agents ( 12-25K agents)
Currently are workflow involves
>Agent Layer Caches>meshDrive>Alembic Cache
using the alembic caches to add to our render layers.
We are working at a sequence level for this show, using these caches to feed shots.
Our placement nodes are broken up into 12-15 sections with about 1-5k people in each so all the meshdrives have to be separated into separate folders and read separately.
This can be a challenge working with 650G+ of alembic data, and multiple folder structures when Miarmy only reads one folder at a time for reading meshdrives.
Is there a better way? Or is this just the way it is?
I think Yeah and his team are working out a solution for this at the moment but in the mean time any other solutions out there?
J
